There’s a man that appears in my dreams.
His dark robe billows out; he screams.
The blood-curdling screech echoes
With his murder of crows.
I fear the host
But foremost
His breath…
Death.

Thanks!! I set out to do a nonet with a rhyming scheme for shits and giggles. Lol the dreaming of death just kind of happened after that.

Ooh, how wonderfully dark! I especially love the image of him screaming; it adds a banshee-ish vibe that distinguishes your nightmare man from the silent Grim Reaper stereotype.

Love the use of “murder of crows” and the double meaning of murder here.

I love the rhyme, how the dwindling lines bring the rhymes closer and closer together, and how it seems to take the edge off the grimness, just a bit. The host/breath and crows are my favorite parts.

Thanks, Ruby! I had the first line and last figured out. But the rest was molded by the rhymes
